Internships

Those of you looking for internships, this Internship List is from the AdClub in DC (Jan 2012). If this seems old, the most recent version may be online at dcadclub.com, but it's likely these people are always interested in interns.
Look through what they are looking for (some want designers, some want account reps, etc.), check out their website so you know a little bit about them (they may ask you why you're interested in interning with them), and contact them.
It's good practice to try, and even if you don't get in now it could give you a foot in the door.

Resumes

The Ladders: 9 Resume Tips Hiring Managers Wished Creatives Pros Knew

60 Most Creative Resumes of All Time: Ridiculous headline, and most of these are crap; poor typographic skills, difficult to read, even harder to understand, and if they land on HR's desk instead of the Creative Director's desk they will be thrown in the trash. But look at numbers 1 (would be better without background image), 2, 7, 9, 12, 18, 22, 23, 27, 45, and 48.

47 is a little difficult to follow, but the quality of illustration and how well the entire page works as a unit sets it apart. It doesn't hurt that they want to work in film and they've completed films that have competed internationally.
